This merchandiser is a custom retail fixture for Credo Beauty, a seller of natural cosmetic products.
It is designed to integrate into the store’s built-in shelving and accommodate a vast array of products.
OBJECTIVES
Develop a series of merchandisers that supported the store’s visual identity while being repeatable in multiple locations.
Create a visually interesting design that was durable and functional on a utilitarian level.
Keep unit and shipping costs to a minimum since a high quantity of units were needed for each store.
CONCEPT
These merchandisers evolved from considering how containers could be overlapped to create interstitial spaces where additional products could be displayed. Repeating spaces provided the retailer flexibility for organizing products and curating the shopping experience.
The crossing pattern helped form a visual identity for Credo Beauty locations.
DEVELOPMENT
Originally fabricated from wood, the second generation of merchandisers was made of matte acrylic. This change eliminated all sanding, prep, and finish work. The thinner material allowed the units to be shipped more efficiently.
It was necessary that the material was durable and non-toxic in order to align with Credo Beauty’s clean values.
Flat panels slot together to create a self-supporting structure. Assembly requires no tools.
Because these merchandisers are quickly assembled on-site, they can be efficiently flat packed, allowing one store’s worth of merchandisers to be mailed in two easily manageable boxes.
This merchandiser is used in all Credo Beauty locations throughout the country.
On-site assembly is a breeze.
The striking geometry creates an unique presentation.
The matte acrylic complements the stores’ material palette and boldly showcases products.
RESULTS
Working closely with the store’s designers, this merchandiser was developed to be incorporated into the built-in shelving and complement the material and color palette in all locations across the country.
The slotted system created a dynamic display capable of holding up to 26 unique products. The non-porous, acrylic surface is durable and must only be wiped with a cloth to be cleaned.
The manufacturing process was refined to consist of only two steps so labor costs were minimized. Shipping costs were greatly reduced by flat-packing, possible because of the simple assembly process.
